Funciona bien

Pensé en enviarle un correo electrónico rápido para informarle que saqué mi velero, Exeter, del agua el viernes pasado y tuve la oportunidad de inspeccionar la hélice después de un verano navegando en Chicago. Se adjuntan varias fotos. Cuando el barco estuvo primero en el disco duro, el fondo estaba cubierto de un limo delgado sin crecimiento importante. Esto es habitual para los barcos en el lago Michigan. Después de un lavado a presión, la hélice se veía como se muestra en la foto 1. Después de un lavado con ácido suave y rápido, la hélice se ve como se muestra en la foto 2. ¡Parece nueva! Lo único interesante de informar fue que mi ánodo de magnesio en el eje de la hélice se consumió bastante. Es posible que todavía tenga un problema de corriente perdida en el muelle. Hizo su trabajo y no parecía haber ningún problema de corrosión con la hélice.
Entonces, en general, estoy muy satisfecho con mi hélice Orion. Cambié el paso a 20 grados y veré cómo funciona el próximo año. Lo único que recomendaría a EWOL sería ofrecer también los ánodos giratorios en la hélice para que estén hechos de magnesio. Esto protegería doblemente la hélice para navegar en agua dulce. (nota: ahora tenemos ánodos de magnesio disponibles en nuestro shop online)

Está funcionando bien y el rendimiento parece mejor que el M de tres palas … que reemplacé. Es más suave cuando se conduce y parece ser un poco más rápido cuando se conduce al ralentí. Todavía no tengo el paso perfecto. En el lanzamiento, opté por una configuración de hoja de 18 grados que es un poco baja. El motor (Yanmar 2GM20F) puede acelerar fácilmente hasta 3600 y la velocidad del barco es un poco más de 6 nudos. En breve, lo pondré en 19 grados y veré cómo funciona.

I thought I would drop you a quick email to let you know that I pulled my sailboat, Exeter, out of the water last Friday and had a chance to inspect the propeller after a summer’s worth of sailing in Chicago. Attached are several photos. When the boat first was on the hard, the bottom was covered in a thin slime with no major growth. This is usual for boats in Lake Michigan. After a pressure wash, the propeller looked as shown in photo 1. After a quick, mild acid wash, the propeller looked as shown in photo 2. Looks like brand new! The only interesting thing to report was that my magnesium anode on the propeller shaft was quite severely consumed. I still may be having a stray current issue on the dock. It did its job and there didn’t seem to be any corrosion issues with the propeller.
So, overall, I am very pleased with my Orion propeller. I changed the pitch to be right on 20 degrees and will see how this works out next year. The only thing I would recommend to EWOL would be to also offer the spinner anodes on the propeller to be made out of magnesium. This would double protect the propeller for sailing in fresh water. (note: we have now magnesium anodes available in our shop online)

It is working fine and the performance seems better than the three bladed M… that I replaced. It is smoother when motoring and seems to be a little bit faster when just motoring at idle speed. I still don’t have the pitch set perfectly. At launch, I went with a 18 degree blade setting which is a little bit low. The engine (Yanmar 2GM20F), easily can rev up to 3600 and the boat speed is a little bit over 6 knots. Shortly, I will be setting it to 19 degrees and see how this works.

Estoy muy contento con la operación general tanto hacia adelante como en reversa. Tenemos un compromiso perfecto entre velocidad y consumo, con pocos ruidos y vibraciones.

La hélice funciona muy bien.

Instalé la hélice EWOL en mi bote, un Hallberg Rassy 45 con motor TMD31D. La hélice funciona muy bien tanto como velocidad de crucero en marcha delantera como en maniobrabilidad.

También es buena la posición de la bandera que me permite navegar rápidamente y sin ruido de rotación de la hélice.

Nelle manovre a motore trasmette sicurezza mentre navigando a vela “sparisce” consentendo un incremento percepibile delle prestazioni. La possibilità di regolazione micrometrica del passo anche con barca in acqua e in totale autonomia rappresenta un ulteriore valore aggiunto in quanto elimina completamente la paura di sbagliare il valore del passo nell’acquisto di un’elica nuova

Dear EWOL,

I just wanted to let you know, that the EWOL propeller has been fantastic during PolarQuest2018 to and around Svalbard.
Due to the robust and over-dimensioned 4 blade design, forward performance was as good as the original fixed propeller without increase of fuel consumption (3.2 litres/hour at cruising speed). Gain whilst sailing is significant and produces much less wear and noise. Reverse propulsion is most impressive and a more than useful feature when navigating in uncharted waters, where it is vital to be able to stop at once. Even though 2018 was a record year in lack of ice, we sailed
along the ice edge for hours. Due to the ’round’ design of the propeller blades, contact with pieces of ice didn’t harm the propeller. The only improvement needed has been be to reduce the pitch of the blades in forward position allowing to produce more thrust at low speed, especially when beating against strong winds. Well, this has been done easily!

Since I saw the propeller on exhibit, I was confident in the design of EWOL and our experience has been more than positive. Thank you for your
