Soy propietario del Alibi 54, un velero de altas prestaciones DIFFERENCE. Se construyó en 2010 y venía equipado con hélices plegables que tenían dos graves inconvenientes: un rendimiento muy pobre en marcha atrás y si se les permitía ir a rueda libre, lo que puede ocurrir, tenían la mala costumbre de abrirse al navegar a más de 15 nudos causando una enorme vibración y resistencia. Yo diría que incluso peligroso para un barco que puede navegar a más de 20 nudos. Recientemente he instalado EWOL E3 en mis dos Volvos de 40 CV con propulsión a vela. Estas hélices son increíbles. Manejabilidad y maniobrabilidad superiores, fácil navegación, plena autoridad en marcha atrás y silencio total al cambiar de marcha. Son caras, pero son geniales.

I own the Alibi 54 hi-performance sailing cat DIFFERENCE. She was built in 2010 and came equipped with folding props which had two serious drawbacks: very poor performance in reverse and if allowed to freewheel, which can happen, they had a bad habit of flying open when sailing over 15 knots causing enormous vibration and drag. I would say even dangerous for a boat that can sail well over 20 kts. I recently refitted EWOL E3 to my twin 40 hp Volvos with sail drives. Theses props are awesome! Superior handling and maneuvering, easy feathering, full reverse authority and total quiet when shifting. They’re expensive, but wow, are they great.
